چکیده
We have injected a HeNe laser at 543 nm into the science fiber. A set of lenses and a diaphragm (in collimated space) were used after the laser to inject the beam with the correct focal ratio. The diameter of the diaphragm was set to 4 mm, while the focal length of the focusing lens was 19 mm, which gives an input focal ratio (IFR) of F/4.75. After aligning the fiber in x, y and z directions, we measured the power after and before the fiber,

Automated minimization of steric clashes in protein structures.
Molecular modeling of proteins including homology modeling, structure determination, and knowledge-based protein design requires tools to evaluate and refine three-dimensional protein structures. Steric clash is one of the artifacts prevalent in low-resolution structures and homology models. Steric clashes arise due to the unnatural overlap of any two nonbonding atoms in a protein structure. Us...
متن کاملLight fermion masses and chiral freedom
Within the scenario of chiral freedom we compute the quark and lepton masses of the first two generations in terms of their chiral couplings. This allows us to make a rough estimate of the size of the chiral couplings, narrowing down the uncertainty in the chiron contribution to low energy observables, like the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. We also extract information about the chiron ...
متن کاملAnalysis of hepatitis C virus isolates using molecular and serological typing methods.
This study comprised 100 persons with antibodies to hepatitis C virus (HCV), including 77 intravenous drug users (IVDUs). They were tested with serological HCV typing assays (Murex HCV serotyping 1-6 assay; Chiron RIBA HCV Serotyping SIA). Patients with a positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for HCV (n = 66) were tested with genotyping molecular assays (Inno-Lipa HCV II test; Sorin GEN-ETI-...
متن کاملRole of signal-to-cutoff ratios in hepatitis C virus antibody detection.
We reviewed results from 12,800 samples tested for hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibody detection in our laboratory by screening (Ortho chemiluminescence immunoassay [CIA]) and supplemental tests (Chiron recombinant immunoblot assay [RIBA]). We found that a signal-to-cutoff (S/Co) ratio of 10.3 was, in our setting, the most efficient cutoff point to improve the diagnostic algorithm of HCV infection.
